Hi EVERYONE! It’s the weekend 😀 I hope you are all enjoying yourselves as much as possible! Today is my stop on the tour for K.T. Findlay’s 1st book in the Sally Mellors series called ‘A Thoughtful Woman’! Sally is one seriously clever woman! Enjoy 😀

They say revenge is a dish best served cold, but where’s the fun in that?

Artist Sally Mellors has planned the perfect revenge, but with two secret agents on her tail, and her best friends running the police investigation, getting away with murder is going to be tricky…

Everybody loves Sally. She’s a funny, generous, warm hearted friend, without a nasty bone in her body. Isn’t she?

Unknown to her friends, Sally’s discovered another side to herself, cool headed and relentless, as she hunts down the three men who killed her husband. But Sally’s not the only one with an interest in the trio. Unknown to her, two agents have arrived in town, urgently hunting a missing man and his diary, which could blow their organisation apart. Their best leads are the very men that Sally’s hunting, and she’s getting in the way…

My Review:

Well it’s been great picking up a crime book again but this one is with a huge twist which I didn’t expect! The ending really surprised me!

I did struggle to get in to the book at the beginning as I found it hard to keep up, there are so many characters introduced very quickly and it jumps about between characters and events very quickly so I did find myself re-reading the first couple of chapters to make sure I fully understood and was able to keep up!

However after I had done that and got al the characters name imbedded in to my head I began to get in to it more! It’s very detailed throughout going to in to real detail about the escape routes and the environments which again slowed it down a little for me!

But again however, after the first murder that was me FULLY ENGAGED! Wanting to find out what happened and how far Sally would go!

The murders that are committed are so ‘out there’ and completely different I LOVED it! It was completely shocking and dark which I found so thrilling!

It became even more exciting when the chase started! I couldn’t put it down at this point wanting to know which way this story was going to go, convinced it was going to be similar to every other crime book! BUT it totally didn’t and I loved the ending! I can’t wait for the next instalment in the Sally Mellors story!

I couldn’t believe how Sally had everyone fooled she’s so clever and the detail she went to plan everything is insane! Do murderers actually go to all that trouble?

Anyway an all round exciting read with a few slower sections, but that’s just my personal opinion! I still want to award this book:

4 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Mainly due to the fact that once I had got through the beginning I really enjoyed it, loved the ending and can’t wait for book number 2!

About the Author:

I love the moment when an idea jumps out at me. The trick then is to catch it, because I could be dreaming in bed, walking the hills, trying not to kill myself on the quad bike… anywhere in fact, except in front of the computer. Obviously. Slowly the whole thing coalesces and I begin to write it down, fleshing out the gaps, understanding why these people do what they do. I’m the first person in the world to “hear” their story, and I get to write it. That’s exciting! It’s what Terry Pratchett called “The Valley Filled With Clouds” technique and it’s huge fun.

A lot of research goes into making my fictional worlds as real as possible. It could be learning about the first mountain bikes, or exactly how medieval clothes were made and worn, or the limitations of police radios, or how to blow glass, draw wire, or a thousand other things. I learn new stuff every single day, and that’s fun too.

So if they’re that much fun to write, it seems only fair that the books should be enjoyable to read. Even in their darkest moments, I like my books to have an underlying vein of humour that will make you smile or laugh. There’s nothing wrong with dark, gritty tales, redolent with unrelenting misery. They’re just not what I want to write. I want you to finish my books and return to the world with a spring in your step.

Welcome to my blog, I am a mum of 2 beautiful boys, who lost all of her passions and hobbies by dedicating all of my time and my life to raising my 2 boys. It’s taken me 3 years to realise I can still enjoy some of my hobbies as well as raise them and even involve them to! I love to read, I always have from children’s books, to factual crime, to local and world history (although my knowledge is terrible), to all fiction especially crime, thriller and horror. I have decided to start blogging and reviewing books, and meeting some of the authors that may be starting out like myself and my blog to maybe even some of my favourite Authors! I hope you enjoy this journey with me and support me along the way! Please sit back and enjoy my reviews and here is to a new start of making sure we look after ourselves as well as our children!

  1. I personally don’t care to read crime books but I am so happy that you were able to find a book that you liked. Sometimes it is a difficult thing to do. Have a great day 🙂
